Our Guest: Luana Lopes Lara, Founder-Kalshi

Luana Lopes Lara is a founder at Kalshi, the first regulated financial exchange for trading on events, such as hurricanes, drought, and global temperature. Before founding Kalshi, Luana worked as a quantitative trader at Citadel Securities and Five Rings Capital. Luana earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Jen Walton, Storm Chaser and Founder of Girls Who Chase

Storm Chasing since 2018, Jen spent the first 17 years of her career working with scientists, engineers, and urban planners to craft communication strategies for effective climate change and science communication. She brought her experience In communications - and her understanding of working in technical fields as a woman - to create the Girls Who Chase concept and find new ways to address systemic gender disparity issues and enact culture change.  Her work has since been featured in The Washington Post and on NBC, Good Morning America & the Today Show.

Andrew Lyons - Fire-Weather Forecaster, SPC

Andrew Lyons is a Mesoscale-Assistant/Fire-Weather Forecaster at the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK.  A lifelong severe weather and aviation nerd, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2016 with a B.S. in meteorology, and began his career at the National Weather Service office in Grand Junction, Colorado. From there, Andrew moved to the WFO in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and earned his Masters Degree in Hydrometeorology before taking the position at the SPC in 2020.  Outside of work, Andrew is an avid storm chaser and college football fan.

Our Guest: Jennifer Narramore - Meteorologist with The Storm Report, Tornado Talk and Weather Brains

Jennifer Narramore has been working as a radio broadcast meteorologist for over 20 years. She began her career at the Weather Channel and currently works for The Storm Report Radio Network. Jennifer provides daily forecasts for 50+ cities across the country. She also provides severe weather coverage for a dozen stations. Jen CoFounded Tornado Talk in 2016. It began as a podcast. After 36 episodes, the podcast ended but she continued the brand as an in depth website dedicated to tornado history. In 2020, Jen joined the Weather Brains podcast as a panelist. Jennifer graduated in 1995 with a B.S. in Meteorology from Penn State University.

Erik Fox is a retired US Army tactical weather NCO and reconnaissance soldier.  He currently serves as an on-air field correspondent for Weather Nation-TV and a police officer in Oklahoma where he has been involved in numerous, large-scale disaster search and rescue operations.  Erik has been storm chasing since 1999 and is the founder of the National Storm Chaser Summit.
